Delhi LG’s statement comes in the backdrop of questions raised by Arvind Kejriwal about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s educational qualification

Launching a scathing attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena said some people are illiterate despite having degrees from IITs.

“Yes, I have heard what the honorable chief minister (Arvind Kejriwal) said in the assembly a few days back. I would like to say that no one should be proud of their degree. A degree is just a certificate that you are literate. But the real education is your knowledge and practice. I have seen how some people have been behaving for the last few days. It is now proved that some people remain illiterate even after getting IIT degree. ANI on Sunday.

The Delhi LG’s statement comes in the backdrop of questions raised by Kejriwal about the educational qualification of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Last week, Kejriwal objected to the Gujarat High Court’s order that said that the details of PM Modi’s degree were not required. He said that this order has raised questions on the education of the Prime Minister. He had said, ‘An illiterate or less educated PM is dangerous for India.

A mechanical engineer from IIT, Kharagpur, the AAP chief then alleged that there could be two reasons why PM Modi is reluctant to show his degree.

He said, ‘Either because of his ego he does not feel the need to show it to anyone, but this kind of behavior is not acceptable in a democracy. The second question that arises is that the degree could be fake,” Kejriwal said in a video message on his official Twitter handle.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh also addressed the issue during the press conference.

He said, ‘Today it has been proved that the Prime Minister of India is an illiterate Prime Minister. What is the degree of PM elected by 140 crore people, should not be known? Have you been fined for asking about degrees? They make ridiculous statements, neither do they know science, nor do they know history or geography,” Singh said.

Earlier this month, the Gujarat High Court Fined 25,000 on Kejriwal, citing how the AAP convenor held on to the matter of PM Modi’s degree certificates from Gujarat University despite it being made public since 2016.

Gujarat University promptly put up the Prime Minister’s degree certificate on its website in 2016, challenging the CIC order in principle as it holds lakhs of degrees in a fiduciary capacity and is not governed by the RTI Act. The university approached the High Court to set aside the CIC order, saying such a demand was made by Kejriwal to politically sensationalize the issue.
