In Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) The 12th political science exam was held on December 17, teachers found two questions ‘ambiguous’. Many teachers claim that students can lose marks because the exam is difficult.
“The paper was difficult and had questions from different concepts. Some questions were of Higher-Order Thinking (HOTS) and included application of concepts. Students found it easy to solve the Assertion- Reasoning questions.” said Aarti Chopra, Principal, Amity International School, Sector 46, Gurugram.
She further adds, “Students found Question No. 18 under Section A ambiguous and Q No. 22 also unclear”.
Anshu Mittal, Principal, MRG School, Rohini also believed that in Section-A, most of the questions were based on direct concepts, however, Section B had questions that required High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) . “Most of the questions were asked,” he said. “In Section C, most of the questions asked were case-based and had essential learning applications.”
Benny Thomas, political science teacher at Jain School, said, “Some questions were concept-based which can be attempted by the examinee to have a proper understanding of the concepts. But there were also some easy questions which could be easily solved. Case The study was challenging and the focus was more on the present circumstances in the present scenario.”
“Standard questions that can only be answered correctly if there are”
There is systematic and serious preparation right from the beginning of the academic session,” Thomas said.
“The students were required to read carefully before answering some of the questions. Some of the picture based questions were logical and a bit confusing. Section A was easy. Others were average,” said Neeru Batra, head, academic practice, Silverline Prestige School, Ghaziabad.
Most of the exams conducted by CBSE this year were rated as difficult by the students. It could also be because the exams were conducted on the new pattern. This year the board is conducting the exam twice in a year. The current exam is Term 1 in which only MCQ questions will be asked. The next exam for CBSE is Biology.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education is working Streamlining the method of evaluation and award of marks to students by various boards across the country, The ministry has reportedly asked the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to prepare guidelines to ensure that no student from any state or central board faces any disadvantage in getting college admission or government job. .
