Son of Aparna Yadav or Rita Joshi? Fight for Lucknow Cantt intensifies, BJP’s sitting MLA’s hope intact

As the UP assembly elections approach, Lucknow Cantt has emerged as a hot seat for various contenders, though the BJP has remained silent on who will be its face from the high-profile region.

Lucknow Cantt, one of the five constituencies of Lucknow, is considered a safe bet for the BJP as they have been able to win this seat more than five times.

The fourth phase of elections in this constituency will go to polls on February 23, but the candidature of the incumbent party has not been finalized yet.

The constituency has over 3,00,000 voters, mostly upper caste Hindus. The seat discussion had started after Mulayam Singh Yadav’s younger daughter-in-law Aparna Bisht Yadav recently joined the saffron party and there are rumors that she may contest from Lucknow Cantt.

At the same time, Allahabad MP Rita Joshi is seeking ticket for her son Mayank from Lucknow Cantt. The former MLA of the seat, Joshi even said that he is ready to give up his MP seat if the party is planning to give ticket to his son.

Amidst speculation, sitting MLA of Lucknow Cantt, Suresh Chandra Tiwari, feels something else. Speaking to News18, Tiwari said that the party leadership had already cleared the air about not giving ticket to any family member of sitting BJP MPs, so there was no chance that Joshi could secure a ticket for his son. Will get

Talking about Aparna Yadav, Tiwari said that he did not think that Yadav would be given ticket from any seat and instead used for campaigning for various candidates across the state.

He said, ‘I have shared my desire to contest the elections on a BJP ticket once again. As per my perception, I am getting ticket from the seat,” said Tiwari, who has won from the seat four times and has been associated with the BJP for decades.

However, he added: “Whoever is chosen as a candidate from the BJP, I will make all efforts to secure the seat. I will campaign for the candidate even if I don’t get the ticket.

With several high-profile candidates in the ring, it is now a game of wait and see as the names are expected to be finalized in a day or two.
