Sonali Phogat case: Goa Police finds vital evidence in Haryana

Superintendent of Police (North Goa) Shobhit Saxena said here on Friday that a special police team present in Haryana to probe the death of BJP leader Sonali Phogat has collected some important evidence.

He said that the investigation is on track and Goa Police is probing closely from all angles to establish the motive behind the alleged murder. “We are also establishing links with the crime and trying to unearth all kinds of conspiracies mentioned in the complaint,” the SP said.

According to the police, Phogat’s brother Rinku Dhaka had alleged in the complaint that Sonali was murdered by her personal assistant Sudhir Sangwan in connivance with Sukhwinder Singh to take over his property and end his political career.

“Apart from the team that is investigating in Goa, we have formed a special team which has gone to Haryana. It has unearthed some important facts and some important evidence has been collected by the team,” said Saxena.

He said that the police is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the investigation is fair, objective and full of merit.

He said that Goa Police has got good cooperation from its Haryana counterpart, so it is able to conduct a proper investigation.

Phogat had come to Goa on August 22 and stayed at a hotel in Anjuna.

He felt uneasy on Monday night and was taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Anjuna the next morning where he was declared brought dead.

According to Goa Police, ‘Methamphetamine’ drugs given to Sonali Phogat have been seized from the washroom of Curlies restaurant in Anjuna-Goa.

So far, five people including his personal assistant Sudhir Sangwan and his friend Sukhwinder Singh have been arrested in the case.
