Sonali Phogat murder case: Goa Police on Saturday confirmed that BJP leader Sonali Phogat was given methamphetamine drugs by an accused at a restaurant in North Goa hours before her death. Deputy Superintendent of Police Jeevba Dalvi said that the rest of the medicines which were given to them at Anjuna’s Curlies restaurant have been seized from the restaurant’s washroom.

  1. Two CCTV footage of BJP leader Sonali Phogat North Goa a few hours before his death surfaced on social media. Videos of CCTV footage of Anjuna’s Curlies restaurant are going viral on social media.
  2. In a video, Phogat can be seen dancing with arrested accused Sudhir Sagwan. The BJP leader is seen wearing a tiara with LED lights on his head.
  3. The video also shows Sagwan forcing her to drink water, which she spits up immediately.
  4. Another video shows Phogat being taken out of the restaurant by the accused. In the footage, she is seen stumbling and almost falling near the stairs while exiting the restaurant.Tea.
  5. Police have so far arrested Phogat’s personal assistant Sagwan, another associate Sukhwinder Singh, Curley’s restaurant owner Edwin Nunes and alleged drug smuggler Dattaprasad Gaonkar. Singh and Sagwan are charged with murder, while Nunes and Gaonkar have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
  6. Phogat was brought to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Anjuna in North Goa district on the morning of August 23 from the same hotel where she was staying.
  7. Suspected drug peddler Dattaprasad Gaonkar was detained from Anjuna after the accused couple “confessed” in their statements that they had procured drugs from him.
  8. Another person taken into custody has been identified as Edwin Nunes, the owner of Curlies restaurant where Phogat was partying late on August 22, before his death under mysterious circumstances.
  9. A senior police officer said the motive behind Phogat’s alleged murder could be “economic interest”, adding that the two were arrested “to destroy evidence and avoid the possibility of influencing witnesses”. Phogat, Sagwan and Singh had reached Goa on 22 August.
  10. Phogat’s last rites were performed in Hisar, where a large number of people turned up to pay their last respects.
