BCCI President Sourav Ganguly heaped praise on Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja for their innings on the first day of the fifth Test against England at Edgbaston.
Pant played a brilliant innings of 146 runs in 111 balls, which included 19 fours and four sixes. He, along with Jadeja (83 not out), put on a 222-run partnership for the sixth wicket to help India recover from an early collapse.
Ganguly said, “A special exhibition of Test match batting under pressure from Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja under pressure.”
The BCCI president also suggested that India reach 375 on the second day against England. India is currently leading 2-1 in the five-Test series.

India were bundled out for 98 for five in 27.5 overs on the rain-hit first day before the pair of Pant and Jadeja rebuilt the team’s innings. Former England captain Joe Root dismissed Pant as the wicketkeeper-batsman slipped in the 67th over.
Pant’s 89-ball century saw him break MS Dhoni’s record for the fastest century by an Indian batsman in the longest format. The left-handed batsman became the only visiting wicket-keeper to score more than one overseas Test century on England soil.
India are currently at 338 for seven at stumps, with Jadeja and Mohammed Shami being the overnight batsmen.
For England, veteran fast bowler James Anderson took three and Matthew Potts took two wickets. Ben Stokes and Joe Root took a wicket each after India were called to bat.
