Accusing the Samajwadi Party of doing politics of appeasement, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that his government had earlier not provided electricity to people on Ram Navami and Sri Krishna Janmotsav, but was supplied during Muharram. Addressing an election meeting here, Shah said that if people vote for SP again, there will be no electricity in Uttar Pradesh.
“Earlier when Muharram used to happen, there was electricity in Uttar Pradesh, but there was no electricity supply on Parashuram Jayanti, Shri Ram Navami and Shri Krishna Janmotsav,” he said. Taking a jibe at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Shah said that his goons in Bundelkhand used to make kattas or country-made pistols, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi is setting up defense industries to make shells.

Narendra Modi has made an arrangement so that the shells made in Bundelkhand can give an answer to Pakistan.” Shah also expressed confidence that the BJP will form the government again in the state and the four-phase voting has paved the way for it.
“In the manifesto of the last election, we had said that the government would reclaim the (encroached) land of the poor and the government in every district. Shivpal (Yadav) ji used to laugh at this and used to say that the captured land is never returned. Praising Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Shah said that Yogi ji built houses for the poor by removing encroachments from government land worth Rs 2,000 crore. He also said that Congress had given the slogan of ‘Garibi Hatao’ in the seventies. Could not remove poverty, but got involved in removing the poor people. The Modi government has fulfilled all the promises made for the welfare of the poor.”
“In the districts I went to, people used to say that they are fed up with mosquitoes and the mafia. Modi implemented Swachhata Abhiyan (cleanliness campaign) and provided toilets, which got rid of mosquitoes. Yogi ji did the work of freeing Purvanchal from the mafia.” Targeting the SP chief, Shah said, “Akhilesh made UP number one in dacoity, robbery, murder and rape. If you want to free UP from mafia and ‘Bahubali’, then only BJP government can do it.”
