San Francisco: SpaceX, run by tech billionaire Elon Musk, is all set to launch its first all-civilian mission ‘Inspiration 4’ into orbit on September 15.
“#Inspiration4 and @SpaceX have completed our flight readiness review and are on track for launch!” Inspiration4 mission team said in a tweet.
Earlier this year in February, SpaceX announced a charity-run mission called Inspiration 4, which will be commanded by tech entrepreneur Jared Isaacman and will feature three others.
They will orbit the planet in SpaceX’s Crew Dragon capsule along an optimized flight path every 90 minutes. At the conclusion of the three-day voyage, Dragon will re-enter Earth’s atmosphere to cool waters off the coast of Florida.
Isaacman, 37, is the founder and CEO of integrated payment processing company Shift4 Payments and a trained pilot.
Billionaire Issacman bought the flight as part of an effort to raise millions for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He has given St. Jude two seats on the Inspiration4 mission and has committed $100 million to St. Jude.
He is joined by Haley Arsinaux, Sean Proctor and chris sambrowski, Space.com informed of.
Arsinox, a childhood bone cancer survivor and St. Jude Physician’s assistant, was selected to represent the charity, while Proctor and Sambrowski were selected as part of a global competition for a trip on the flight.
Inspiration 4 will launch on September 15 from NASA’s Pad 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
However, the exact liftoff time will be determined only a few days before the launch, the report said.
Since the dragon won’t travel International Space StationUnlike previous Crew Dragon missions, its docking port was removed and replaced with a domed window.
According to the Inspiration 4 team, the cupola-inspired window on the International Space Station will provide the crew with incredible views of Earth.
The report said that Issacman, Arkenaux, Proctor and Sambrowski are scheduled to arrive at Kennedy Space Center on September 9.
The Inspiration 4 mission marks SpaceX’s latest private astronaut mission.
The company’s Ax-1 mission, also planned for the end of 2021, hosts a crew of four private astronauts, paying $55 million each for an eight-day visit to the ISS.
In 2018, musk It also announced that Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa will take a ride around the Moon on SpaceX’s new rocket system Starship, which is under development.
