Sri Lanka vs Pakistan: Fans unhappy with Babar Azam for dropping catch in 2nd Test – not good by captain

Pakistan captain Babar Azam is currently going through a purple patch in terms of his batting. In the first Test against Sri Lanka at Galle, he scored a century and led the visiting team to a four-wicket victory.

However, the 27-year-old hasn’t had the best of times on the field of late. On the first day of the second Test at the Galle International Stadium, the Lahore-born cricketer dropped two catches. In the 52nd over of the Sri Lankan innings, he gave life to the in-form Angelo Mathews.

Left-arm spinner Nauman Ali bowled one and Mathews played a wrong cover drive. However, Babar, standing at extra cover, failed to catch the ball. Pakistan did not suffer much for the missed opportunity as Mathews dismissed Nauman after seven overs.

Babar then missed a simple opportunity in the slip cordon in the 82nd over of the day’s play. Left-handed batsman Niroshan Dickwella made an aggressive start, scoring 24 runs in his first 23 balls. However, the southpaw found himself in trouble after turning one away from Naseem Shah.

Dickwella went a drive away from his body and Babar had to take a simple catch at a comfortable height. However, the Pakistani captain failed to take the catch. Dickwella remained unbeaten at the stumps, scoring 42 runs with the help of five fours and a six.

Sri Lanka ended the first day’s play at 315 for six in 86 overs. Meanwhile, the fans were not happy with Babar dropping two important catches. He told Babar to concentrate on the game.
