Mysuru’s performance in the SSLC exams has dropped marginally compared to last year’s performance, with the district’s pass percentage at 89.75 in the results announced on Monday. In 2022, the pass percentage of the district was 91.38.
Ramachandra Raje Urs, deputy director of the public instruction department, said there was a slight dip in the pass percentage though all efforts were made to ensure 95 per cent results. Mysore ranks 16th in the state.
However, the official said that the results are still encouraging and efforts will be made to bring the district among the top ten in next year’s examination.
A total of 36,178 students appeared in the examination this year in the district.
Anagha of Mysuru’s Vijaya Vitthal School is just two marks short of the maximum score of 625. He has secured 623 marks in the examination. Arjun of Sadvidya High School, Mysuru has scored 621 marks. Heads and teachers of schools in Mysuru whose students scored top marks, including Vijaya Vitthal School, Sadhavidya High School and Marimallappa School, celebrated the students’ success by offering them sweets. He was also awarded for his efforts in scoring more than 620 marks.
Mandya, which stood third in last year’s results, has stood second in the state with a pass percentage of 96.74 percent.
The performance of students has improved in Chamarajanagara and Kodagu, the two border districts with pass percentages of 94.37 and 93.19 respectively.
Kodagu DDPI Rangadamiah said Kodagu stood ninth in the results and added that three students scored 619 marks out of 625.
