Stalin launches scheme for barbers in temples

Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday launched a scheme for the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department to provide a monthly incentive of Rs 5,000 to barbers in temples.

Under this scheme, 1,744 barbers will be given identity cards and a monthly incentive of Rs 5,000 will be given from the respective temples. For this, the state government will spend Rs 10.47 crore annually.

Health Minister I. Subramaniam; HRD and CE Minister PK Shekharbabu; MLA I. Paranthamen; Secretary, Department of Tourism, Culture and Religious Endowments, B. Chandra Mohan; HR&CE Commissioner J. Kumargurubaran and senior officials were present.
