Stock market holidays: Is trading closed on NSE, BSE on Diwali of 2022?

However, both equity and commodity markets will remain open for the Muhurta trading session on October 24, 2022. The timing of Muhurta Trading 2022 has been announced from 6:15 PM to 7:15 PM.

As per the list of stock market holidays in October 2022, trading in currency derivatives segment and interest rate derivatives segment will also remain suspended during their scheduled hours.

Trading in the commodity derivatives segment will also remain closed during its scheduled morning and evening sessions. However, for Muhurta trading session also it will be open for one hour from 6:15 PM to 7:15 PM.

According to the list of Stock Market Holiday 2022, this is the second holiday in the stock market in October. Trading was closed on BSE and NSE on 5 October 2022 for Dussehra celebrations. The next stock market holiday is on 26 October 2022 for Diwali Balipratipada. In 2022, there are 16 stock market holidays and after Diwali 2022, there will be two more stock market holidays on 26 October 2022 and 8 November 2022. On 26 October, the stock market is closed for Diwali Balipratipada while on 8 November 2022, there will be no action on NSE and BSE for Guru Nanak Jayanti celebrations.

Last week on Friday, the Indian stock market closed with gains for the sixth consecutive session. The Nifty 50 index closed 12 points higher at 17,576, while the BSE Sensex rose 104 points to end at 59,307. However, the Nifty Bank index outperformed the Nifty and the Sensex as it closed at 40,784, up 1.71 per cent.
