Store owner’s compassionate gesture for making LGBTQ+ customers feel welcome wins praise

The rainbow flag is a symbol of pride, love and solidarity for members of the LGBTQ+ community. It symbolizes stability, security, and affection, and serves as a reminder that individuals are not alone. During Pride Month, it is customary to see the Pride flag displayed prominently in support of the LGBTQ+ community. Now a similar act of a person is being praised a lot on the internet. The story of a store owner’s compassionate spirit for LGBTQ+ customers has gone viral after his son posted it on Twitter. A screenshot of a text exchanged between a father and his son was published on Twitter, which touched many. Comedian and Brooklyn-based TV writer Gus Constantelis is the person behind the Twitter post.

“My dad got a pride flag for his storefront and he texted me this,” Constantelis tweeted, along with a picture of a rainbow-colored flag on his dad’s shop window and a text with the text whether they had placed it correctly.

The tweet was quickly flooded with positive replies from netizens, many of whom inquired about the location of the store.

Responding to questions and compliments on the viral post, Constantalis said that the name of his father’s shop near UES in Manhattan is John’s Cleaners & Tailors. He’s an immigrant, and this store represents his “American dream.” “Thanks for the love on this tweet!” He continued.

One user even requested that Constantalis hug his father, emphasizing that support is important, not the orientation of the flag.

One user commented, “This is the cutest thing I’ve seen all day.”

Another said, “So nutritious and sweet.”

Constantelis later tweeted that when he told his father the tweet had gone viral, his father said, he didn’t do it for business, but he did it because he has a lot of gay customers at the store. “I wanted them to feel included.” said his father.

Meanwhile, the first Pride flag was designed in 1978 by artist Gilbert Baker, an openly gay man and drag queen. Baker later revealed that he was persuaded to be a symbol of pride for the LGBT community by Harvey Milk, one of the first openly gay public leaders in the United States.
