Students who jumped from 7th floor of IIT Bombay hostel allegedly committed suicide, probe launched

Police have registered a case of sudden death. The case is being investigated.

An 18-year-old student at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) has died after falling from the seventh floor of the institute at Powai. According to reports, the students belonged to Manpada in Gujarat and were studying in the first year of chemical engineering at IIT. According to the police, the students had fallen from the seventh floor at 11:30 am on Sunday. Police has not received any suicide note from the state. At the same time, some students alleged that gambling students were allegedly being discriminated against on campus. Due to this he took the step of suicide. Now the police have registered a case of sudden death. The case is being investigated.

Police said that Darshan Solanki, a BTech student, was a resident of Municipal Corporation. He had taken this course three months ago. His first cell exam was over on Saturday. Powai police is trying to find out why the students have taken such a drastic step under the pressure of studies.

APPSC (Ambedkar Periyar Phule Study Circle) IIT Bombay tweeted: “We condole the demise of Darshan Solanki, an 18 year old fertility student. That this is not an individual or private but an apocalypse.”

Another tweet said, “Despite our rage, the institute didn’t care to make the campus inclusive and safe for Journalism Bahujan rural students. First year students suffer the most in terms of anti-radical sentiments and taunts for non-qualification.” face persecution.”

The Ambedkar Periyar Phule Study Circle alleged in an Instagram post that “it is no hidden fact that students from the SC/ST community face extreme stress and discrimination on campus from the college and staff”.

SSP Budhan Sawat said that on the basis of primary information, I have registered a case of accidental death. The inspection of the matter is going on. He said, ‘Prima facie it seems that Darshan was under mental depression. The matter is being investigated from every angle. The police is also ascertaining whether he committed suicide because of the exam. However, no suicide note has been found. That’s why the cause of death is not clear.
