After two days of relief from the scorching summer heat, Hyderabad on Saturday evening witnessed a sudden spell of rain. The early evening showers, accompanied by strong winds, took many pedestrians and motorists by surprise, prompting people to rush for shelter across various parts of the city.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast partly cloudy skies for Hyderabad and nearby areas over the next 48 hours, with a likelihood of light to moderate rain or thundershowers and gusty winds. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 40°C and 26°C respectively.
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued an orange and yellow alert for thunderstorms across several districts of Telangana for Sunday, May 4, warning of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and strong winds in isolated pockets.
An orange alert, indicating a higher likelihood of severe thunderstorms, has been issued for Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, and Siddipet districts.
A yellow alert, which signals a less intense but still significant weather risk, is in place for Mancherial, Yadadri Bhongir, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal districts.
