Summer is here and so it is time to drink gallons of Chaas and Lassi. We just love these classic yogurt-based drinks; not us? They are healthy, healthy, easy to make and help to keep us hydrated and healthy during hot summer days. Apart from this, chaas and lassi are also very tasty. These two drinks have a very earthy taste that touches all our hearts. Considering all these factors, we can easily say that Chaas and Lassi are a popular choice for all. What’s more, you’ll find many regional versions of these classic drinks. With a few basic changes to the recipe, every state serves this drink in the most delicious way possible. While in South India, Chaas is called Neer Mor and Sambaran, Bengalis refer to it as Ghol. Similarly, a variation appears in the buttermilk (chickpeas) in Gujarat called komal.

Like the beautiful name Komal, the drink comprises of many delicious ingredients that come together to make the drink taste amazing. Traditionally, komal includes coconut milk which adds some flavor and freshness to the drink. It also contains chilies, curry leaves, cumin, asafoetida and some other basic ingredients. Gujarati-Style Buttermilk Recipe: How to Make the Soft Drink:
To make this dish, we need curd, fresh coconut milk, green chillies, fresh chopped coriander, asafoetida, cumin, curry leaves, oil, salt and sugar.
Now that you have the ingredients available, first of all take curd, coconut milk, green chillies, coriander and sugar in a bowl with some water to make the drink light and liquid. Take a hand blender and blend the mixture well. Add salt and mix well again.

Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan and add asafoetida, cumin and curry leaves and let it crackle. Pour the tempering into the drink and serve. But make sure you sieve the green chilies before serving.
