With his third unbeaten T20I century, Suryakumar Yadav changed the course of history during the third and final T20I of the series against Sri Lanka. He did so by becoming the player to reach 1,500 runs in the shortest format in the fewest number of balls. SKY needed just 843 balls to reach this milestone in T20I cricket, the least number of balls by any player. Yadav is the first player in history to achieve the milestone with a strike rate of 150 or more.
In terms of innings played, he is the third fastest player to score 1,500 runs in T20Is. The fastest of the four batsmen to reach the milestone was Virat Kohli, KL RahulAaron Finch and Babar Azam, who needed 39 innings each to reach 1,500 runs in T20Is. Pakistan Wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan achieved the feat in 42 innings, while Suryakumar did so in 43 innings.

Yadav has scored 1578 runs in 45 matches and 43 innings at an average of 46.41. Across formats, he has three centuries and thirteen half-centuries, with a personal best score of 117 and a strike rate of 180.34. Suryakumar also hit the second fastest century by an Indian batsman, taking just 45 balls to reach his third century in the 20-over format.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma scored a century in 35 balls against Sri Lanka To create a new record in T20I match. Sharma scored a record four centuries in T20Is. He is followed by Yadav, Glenn Maxwell and Colin Munro, all of whom have scored three hundreds.
In the third game against Sri Lanka, Suryakumar Yadav continued his fine form by thrashing Sri Lankan spinners left and right. A quick-fire partnership of 111 runs from 53 balls came to an end as Gill was dismissed for 46 off 36 balls. In just 45 balls, Yadav reached his third T20I ton, smashing 112* off 51 balls with seven fours and nine sixes. Also, Axar Patel (21*) played a good role in helping India reach 228/5 in their 20 overs.
Chasing 229, Lanka were bowled out for 137 in 16.4 overs. Suryakumar’s match-winning ton earned him the title of “Man of the Match”. The three-match ODI series between the two teams will begin on January 10.
