Mumbai: The BJP’s unintentional acknowledgment of disbanding the Shiv Sena – and allegations of the party running the show under the Eknath Shinde administration – is likely to heat up Maharashtra’s state politics, when the current government, the rebel Shiv Sena and the BJP, is in alliance. Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde led a revolt of 40 MLAs in June and walked out of the Thackeray-led MVA, causing it to collapse. After this the MLAs formed the government with BJP in which Shinde became the CM and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis became the deputy CM.
After Sushil Modi’s remarks last week, BJP MLA Ashish Shelar, who is now the party’s Mumbai unit president, said, Told The BJP did not plan Shinde’s rebellion, which he said was due to ideological differences with his party’s leadership.

‘BJP running the show’
During the monsoon session, MLAs and MLCs of the Thackeray-led Shiv Sena planned to target MLAs rallying with Shinde on how the BJP is taking over the reins of the government despite Shinde becoming the CM.

In the 48 days since the government came to power, the BJP has also pushed projects that are politically important to it, such as the showpiece Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train and the Aarey Metro car shed.
Thackeray-led Shiv Sena opposed both these projects. As Chief Minister, Thackeray overlooked the bullet train project, he had shifted the Aarey Metro car shed to Kanjurmarg.
Shiv Sena MLC Manisha Kayande said they are “planning to strongly raise the issue of Aarey Metro car shed”. “The ongoing theme will be how the BJP is organizing everything in the government,” he said.
Shiv Sena MLA Ajay Choudhary, who was appointed by Thackeray as the party’s group leader after the Shinde-led rebellion, said Sushil Modi’s statement was an “official admission” of the BJP which is already famous. “Everyone knew that the split in Shiv Sena was the handiwork of the BJP. All the planning was done by BJP.
He said, ‘After the floor test, CM Shinde had also admitted that he and Fadnavis used to meet after the world fell asleep before the rebellion and Fadnavis would come in disguise.
Thackeray-led Shiv Sena’s allies in the MVA may also support the party in its attack on the ruling alliance.
NCP spokesperson Mahesh Taapsee told ThePrint that the BJP was trying its best to topple the ruling government ever since the MVA came to power in 2019.
