Suspected food poisoning kills 3 boys, 11 hospitalized in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruppur

At least three boys died and 11 were hospitalized after suspected food poisoning at the home of a destitute in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruppur on Thursday. Officials said 11 boys are currently undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Tiruppur.

According to reports, the boys had mixed rasam and laddoos in rice for dinner on Wednesday. Some of them vomited and developed dysentery. He had breakfast on Thursday morning and his condition worsened. Officials said some even fainted.

Al boys were admitted to a private hospital, but were later taken to government hospitals in Tiruppur and Avinashi, officials said.

Three boys, aged 8 to 13, died at the hospital, while others are undergoing treatment, three of whom have been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Tirupur District Collector S Vineeth, who visited the hospital, said samples were collected and sent for testing after initial reports of food poisoning.

DC Vineet said that if found guilty after investigation, strict action would be taken against Home Shri Vivekananda Home for Destitute.

Police is investigating and interrogating the people running the house.
