Sweden’s embassy to organize video challenge for students to tackle climate change

The Embassy of Sweden will govern Sweden India Nobel Memorial Week under which it is hosting the #SHESTEM video challenge, asking students to imagine themselves in the year 2047, for their innovation in helping tackle climate change and making a video on it. The Nobel Prize is being received for India’s 100th Independence Year.

Participants are required to record a video answering the question, “As India celebrates 100 years of independence, you have been awarded the Nobel Prize for your innovation in tackling climate change. Your 30s In the second thank you video speech, tell us about your innovation and how it positively impacts climate change,” the official press release reads.

Students need to start the video with a thank you note for receiving the Nobel Prize. For example, “Thank you for awarding me the Nobel Prize for my innovation on heating/cooling systems in infrastructure.” They can also create a prototype that is either digital or used in newspapers, papier-mâché, or in some other innovative way to support their videos. However, entries made with and without prototype will be evaluated equally.

The challenge is open to individuals between the ages of 13-17, enrolled in any school in India. Entries can be made in Hindi or English and the duration of the video should not exceed 30 seconds. Videos can be uploaded to popular social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook and YouTube as well as to the Google Form link mentioned in the social media post.

The #SHESTEM Video Challenge will begin on October 25th and end on November 14th and every day at least one entry will be shortlisted. The #SHESTEM video challenge is looking for a solution that is a unique combination of unique imagery and ground realities as they can exist in 2047. Videos will be judged on three criteria, which include novelty of the idea, clarity of thought and feasibility. The relevance of innovation, reads the release.

The names of the winners will be announced live on December 5th at SHESTEM 2022 and their videos will be shown to the world. The winner of the challenge will receive a tablet, while the runner-up and the following 10 shortlisted entries will receive other exciting prizes and gifts.

SHESTEM is a joint initiative between the Embassy of Sweden in India and the Atal Innovation Mission that emphasizes the importance of STEM education for young girls and women. The annual event is jointly organized by the Embassy of Sweden, the Consulate General of Sweden in Mumbai, and other artists from Team Sweden, including Swedish companies operating in India.
