Switch Mobility launches Ei V12 electric bus range for India

Switch Mobility, the electric mobility arm of Ashok Leyland, has launched its EI V12 electric bus range for the Indian market. The new Switch EI V12 is available in two variants, Low Floor and Standard, and the buses promise to offer reliability, range and comfort. The company says that it is currently placing orders for over 600 units for the 12 meter long buses. The new Switch EI v12 also features the manufacturer’s proprietary connected technology solution ‘Switch Ion’, which enables remote, real-time diagnostics and monitoring services as well as digital battery management tools. The EV architecture of the EI V platform is identical with the recently launched European Switch E1 bus.

The SWITCH EI V range of buses can cater to the needs of the city as well as within the city. This includes the needs of staff, schools and public transportation. The electric bus range is powered by a new generation, lithium-ion NMC battery specially designed for the Indian climate and conditions. The company claims a range of 300 km per day in the Ei V12 buses, while the dual-gun fast-charging feature extends the range up to 500 km per day. With 98 percent uptime, the buses promise high reliability, long battery life and low cost of ownership. The PMS AC motor in the EI V range produces 315 Bhp of peak power (188 Bhp continuous power) and 3,100 Nm of peak torque.

The company says its existing buses have covered more than 8 million km in India, which equates to a saving of over 5,000 tonnes of CO2 or planting more than 30,000 trees. The Switch Mobility India team currently has over 450 employees and will rapidly grow its human resource network over the next five years.
