With Team India set to begin their T20 World Cup 2021 campaign on Sunday, many fans would be expecting a challenge for the title from Virat Kohli’s side. With several players like Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul in top form, the team has been further strengthened with the appointment of MS Dhoni as the team mentor for the showpiece event. Former India opener Gautam Gambhir feels Dhoni’s presence is beneficial for the team as he will also need “that experienced guy who has been there” and won trophies in the past. The wicketkeeper-batsman captained the Indian team that won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007.
Speaking on Star Sports show Follow the Blues, Gambhir said, “To share my experience with some of the youngsters who are playing their first World Cup, which is going to be very important because playing in the World Cup is a whole lot. Kind of a different piece.. So, you’ll need someone experienced that has been there.”
“So, MS can certainly try to share all his experiences with some young cricketers”, he added.
Dhoni recently led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to their fourth Indian Premier League (IPL) title by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the final.
