english umpire Michael Gough was withdrawn from running on Wednesday t20 world cup After the ICC broke the bio bubble of the tournament a few days back. The 41-year-old was placed in six-day isolation after leaving his hotel without permission on Friday last week to meet people outside the tournament bubble. “… Umpire Michael Gough will not be appointed for any further matches during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 following a breach of biosafety protocols,” the ICC said in a statement.
“The ICC recognizes the extended time spent in bio-secure conditions over the past two years and will continue to support the well-being of all match officials working in this environment,” he added.
Gough was supposed to officiate in last Sunday’s game between India and New Zealand in Dubai, but was withdrawn after a breach and was replaced by Marais Erasmus of South Africa.
A former Durham batsman, Gough is currently regarded as one of the best umpires in international cricket. He was being tested every other day during isolation.
