Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission | fix reservation rules

The following charts show the community-wise allocation of seats at each stage of Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) counselling, which is done online in adherence to the reservation policies of the state.

The chart, which contains data for 2020, shows the percentage of seats taken by students from each community in each round of counseling and their total share after all rounds. TNEA calls students for each round based on their rank with Round 1 (R 1) consisting of the top ranked students.

As the charts show, BCs hold the largest number of seats. The important thing is that their share is even higher in the first round of counselling. In contrast, people from other marginalized communities, such as SCs and to a lesser extent MBCs, have a lower share in the earlier era.

Note: Only the data for students under the “Academic” category, which constitutes the majority, has been considered. Admission under other categories is not covered. The data of those seeking admission under 7.5% quota and supplementary counseling for government school students have also not been included.
