Madurai: Police told that the husband of the factory owner is absconding.

Tamil Nadu Police on Thursday arrested the owner of a firecracker factory in Madurai, where five people were killed in an explosion. Police said that the husband of the factory owner is absconding.

Madurai Superintendent of Police Shiv Prasad told news agency ANI on Friday, “Anushiya, the owner of the firecracker factory, has been arrested while the police are on the lookout for her husband.”

The death toll in the incident was confirmed by Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes and Registration Minister P Murthy.

“Five people have died and the injured are being treated at Thirumangalam Government Hospital and Madurai Rajaji Hospital. We are probing whether there was any violation of firecracker factory norms,” ​​he said.

Chief Minister MK Stalin on Thursday expressed grief over the deaths and announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the family members of the victims, which was handed over to them by Minister P Murthy.

Stalin said on Thursday, “I am deeply saddened to hear that five people were killed today in an explosion at a firecracker factory in a village near Thirumangalam in Madurai district.”
