In Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, a group of men got into trouble for a banner depicting Lord Shiva as smoking. The banner was put up to wish one of his friends who got married recently.
Images of the groom, Pratish and his wife, residents of Arokiyapuram in Kanyakumari district, were placed in the center along with images of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
However, the banner caused controversy as it featured Lord Shiva smoking. Several Hindu organizations informed the local police, who immediately removed the banners.
The police summoned the groom and his friends and left after giving a stern warning.
This comes amid a growing controversy over a black poster that made headlines. In a documentary, Goddess Kali was shown smoking and holding an LGBTQ flag.
