Tamil Nadu Police will give conditional permission to the proposed Route March and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) public meetings across the state on November 6, 2022.

In a note to Police Commissioners/Superintendents of Police of all cities/districts, Director General of Police C. Silendra Babu said that the police officers should keep in mind the prevailing law and order situation, the traffic scenario and the safety of the participants (of the rally). Provide permission to the public as well as the event with the necessary conditions.

The state police had earlier denied permission for the RSS’s route march. And planned public meetings at more than 50 places on October 2, 2022, even as the Madras High Court approved after which the RSS filed a contempt petition.

Citing incidents of violence in various districts after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided the premises of Popular Front of India (PFI) leaders/activists, the police said that Route March and A.K. Public meeting to review its order of 22 September, and filed a petition before the court.

Acknowledging the reasons given by the police, who had also cited seven intelligence reports that predicted possible communal tension in the wake of raids by the central agency on PFI, The court had directed the police to allow For route march and public meeting on 6th November 2022.
