Tata Nexon EV Prime to get free new features: 22,000 existing Nexon EVs also available! – times of India

Tata Motors announces the launch of 12th July Nexon EV Prime Compact SUV. The highlight of the Nexon EV Prime is its four new ‘intelligent’ features, such as multi-mode brake regeneration, cruise control, smartwatch integration and ITPMS. While recently launched Tata Nexon EV The Max ZX+ variant gets the features mentioned above, the Nexon EV missed them, but not now.

Not only that though, Tata Motors is also rolling out these four new features to all 22,000 Nexon EV owners through a software update. The special thing is that the update will be free for the first time for existing owners of Nexon EVs. Frequent updates will be chargeable. However, since the Nexon EV platform does not support over-the-air (OTA) updates, the EV software can be updated only at authorized service centres.
This marks the entry of Tata Motors into what can be informally termed as ‘buying in an ecosystem rather than just a product’. Where manufacturers keep on introducing new features to older cars through software updates which keeps them up to date and also helps them maintain a good resale value. Whereas ICE vehicles have no provision for such major software overhauls and tend to become obsolete over time. This industry behavior can also be compared to what we see in the smart devices market. Where devices receive years of software and bug correction updates, thereby prolonging the life of the device.

“Nexon EV has captured the imagination of the entire nation and since its launch has continuously forayed into the electric vehicle segment. This is the default option for those looking for an EV with more than 65% market share. With the Nexon EV Prime, we expect to further strengthen our strategy of innovating our product offerings. Furthermore, with this software update for existing owners, we are setting a new benchmark of what customers can expect as part of the Tata EV ownership experience.’ Mr. Vivek Shreevats, Head, Marketing, Sales & Service Strategy, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. says.

Tata Nexon EV Max

when Nexon EV Max While there is a physical button on its console to toggle through its various brake regeneration modes, it is not yet clear how the system will work on the earlier model Nexon EV, the same goes for the cruise control feature. Clarity on what effect the multimode regeneration feature will have on the Nexon EVS brake pad life is still unclear.
