Stelantis should be able to catch up with electric vehicle pioneer Tesla in the coming years, its chief executive Carlos Tavares said Friday, adding that consumers will benefit from the competition. Tavares called for more investment in charging networks in Europe and the United States to encourage drivers to switch to electric vehicles.

“I’m very confident, I’m trying not to be arrogant, just convinced of the fact that we’re going to catch up with Tesla over the next few years and it’s going to be a very healthy competition,” Tavares told reporters during one. Television Q&A session with journalists organized by Mobility TV World. “Well, great for the consumer,” he said.
