Be it morning, afternoon or evening, a cup of tea relaxes you like a warm hug with every sip

As much as we love our essential cup of morning tea, it’s in vain unless we have breakfast to enjoy with it. Be it morning, afternoon or evening, a cup of tea will soothe you like a warm hug with every sip, however, any snack to round out your tea time is like the cherry on the cake. But did you know that combining certain foods with tea can be detrimental to the nutritional content they provide? Here is a list of foods that you should avoid while enjoying your tea:

cold food

Mixing cold food with hot tea can disrupt digestion. This is because if you consume foods of different temperatures together, it can weaken your digestion process and make you nauseous. Once you have consumed hot tea, you should wait at least 30 minutes before consuming anything cold.

green vegetables

We have been told time and again to include green vegetables in our diet regularly as they are high in iron content. But if green vegetables are mixed with hot tea, some compounds called tannins and oxalates present in your tea can inhibit the absorption of iron in your body.

Gram Flour

While we are all staunch fans of pakodas with hot ginger tea during the rainy season, this combination can have serious side effects on your health. Serving some onion pakoras with tea is our favorite snack whenever guests knock on our door, but this delicious pairing can lead to digestive issues that can lead to constipation and acidity later on.

Turmeric

All of you should avoid eating foods that have high turmeric content along with tea as your hot drinks and the chemical elements present in turmeric can damage the digestive system immensely and cause acid reflux. One of the most favorite breakfast dishes, Poha has high turmeric content and is often served during breakfast.

Lemon

While lemon tea is a much-loved beverage for fitness enthusiasts, mixing tea leaves with this citrus fruit can be very acidic in nature and may even lead to bloating.
