A COVID-19 outbreak affected Indian Cricket Team On Wednesday as four players – openers Shikhar Dhawan and Ruturaj Gaikwad, middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer and net bowler Navdeep Saini – tested positive for the virus along with three support staff during their mandatory isolation period before the start. The Indian team had assembled in Ahmedabad on January 31 for the upcoming white-ball series against the West Indies and were undergoing a three-day isolation period following their break from the South Africa series.
The series begins with India’s 1000th ODI match in Ahmedabad from 6 February.
The BCCI said, “The All India Senior Selection Committee has included Mayank Agarwal in India’s ODI squad after seven members, including three players from Team India (Senior Men) tested positive for COVID-19 after three rounds of RT-PCR testing.” test positive for -19.” a press release.

“The RT-PCR tests conducted on Monday (January 31) of Fielding Coach T. Dileep and Security Liaison Officer B. Lokesh have yielded positive results,” the board wrote.
“The RT-PCR test of batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad conducted on Tuesday (February 1) has given a positive result. He had tested negative during the first round of testing on Monday,” it said.
“The RT-PCR tests conducted on Wednesday (February 2) of batsman Shreyas Iyer and sports massage therapist Rajeev Kumar have yielded positive results. Both had tested negative in the first two rounds of testing.”

The BCCI said that the players who tested positive for Kovid will remain in isolation till they make complete recovery.
