Amnesty India on Saturday condemned the Gujarat Police’s detention of activist Teesta Setalvad by the ATS, a day after the Supreme Court charged Setalvad with forgery and forgery of records in the 2002 Gujarat riots. Human Rights Watch organization questioned the arbitrariness of Indian officials. In its official tweet, it said the worker’s detention sends a chilling message to civil society and further reduces room for discontent in the country.
