RJD president Lalu Prasad’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav, who is embroiled in a matrimonial dispute, on Tuesday publicly threatened to wash some dirty linen. Yadav released a nearly seven-minute-long video statement against a news portal that had a report about his divorce case apparently projecting him in a bad light.
Yadav, who claims to have maintained silence since filing the petition seeking divorce four years ago, said, “I can come up with countless video clips and other evidence to prove that I, my parents- Father and my siblings have faced physical and verbal abuse.” The temperamental RJD MLA had tied the knot with Aishwarya Rai, granddaughter of late former Chief Minister Daroga Prasad Rai, in May 2018. Their union lasted less than six months. Aishwarya stayed at the house of her mother-in-law Rabri Devi, herself a former CM, before stepping out on a rainy winter night to save her marriage, before a group of journalists alleged that she was kicked out .
His father Chandrika Rai vowed to avenge the humiliation “politically”, quitting RJD to join Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U), but failed to retain his pocket borough Parsa assembly seat in 2020 . Yadav, who remains in the news for his mood swings. The party, along with close associates and family members, alleged that the “RSS” and “the other party” were conspiring to defame him in his divorce case.
“I also have evidence which I have not shared as it involves a maiden (girl), which makes the case emotional,” Yadav said. He urged the media to comply with the family court order barring journalists from reporting the proceedings of the divorce case.
Yadav and Aishwarya were last seen together a month ago in the Patna High Court for counseling, which is mandatory for all couples seeking divorce.
