The resignation of sitting Congress MLA Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy, who joined the BJP, has led to the bypoll (AFP file)
The BJP suffered two days back when former TRS MP Bura Narasaiya Gaur, a backward class leader, left the TRS and joined the BJP.
In a setback to the BJP in Telangana ahead of the Munugode assembly bypoll, party leaders K Swami Goud and Shravan Dasoju returned to the TRS on Friday. Gaur and Dasoju were joined in the presence of TRS working president and Minister of State KT Rama Rao. It was a ‘ghar wapsi’ for both of them as they were earlier in TRS.
Gaur, who served as the chairman of the state legislative council, joined the BJP in 2020 after leaving the TRS. Dasoju had joined the BJP two months back after being in the Congress. Before working in Congress, Dasoju was in TRS.
The BJP lost its hand two days ago when former TRS MP Bura Narasaiya Gaur, a backward class leader, left the TRS and joined the BJP. However, Swami Goud and Shravan Dasoju joining the TRS, who also belong to the backward class, may help the ruling party in the Munugode by-election to be held on November 3.
The bypoll has been necessitated by the resignation of sitting Congress MLA Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy, who joined the BJP to fight against the alleged family rule of TRS. Counting of votes will take place on November 6.
