Telangana CM KCR releases video, accusing BJP of trying to buy TRS MLAs

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) on Thursday called an unexpected news conference where he released a series of videos purportedly of BJP men bribing four TRS MLAs. KCR said the videos support his party’s claim that the BJP had tried to bribe four TRS MLAs. A controversy erupted in Telangana last week after four TRS MLAs Rega Kantha Rao, Guvawala Balaraju, Biram Harshvardhan Reddy and Pilot Rohit Reddy said the BJP had tried to entice them to switch loyalties. Attacking PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, KCR alleged that the saffron party was trying to topple the TRS government by luring its MLAs with money and posts.

Meanwhile, the BJP has denied the allegations and called it a drama written by KCR. Cyberabad police last week raided a farmhouse in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district on the outskirts of Hyderabad and detained three people for allegedly attempting to promise huge sums of money to TRS MLAs.

Following a complaint by TRS MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy on Wednesday, an FIR was registered at Moinabad police station under sections 120-B, 171-B r/w 171-E 506 r/w 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Section 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The three accused have been identified as Ramachandra Bharti, Nanda Kumar and Simhayaji Swamy.

In the FIR, Reddy alleged that Ramachandra Bharathi, who came from Delhi to Hyderabad and Nand Kumar from Hyderabad, both belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party, met him and offered him Rs 100 crore to join the BJP.

According to the FIR, MLA Rohit Reddy also alleged that he was threatened that criminal cases would be registered against him and raids were conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) if he did not join the BJP. Will go
