Telangana Congress President Revanth Reddy on Thursday met CBI Director Subodh Kumar Jaiswal in New Delhi and demanded a probe into the auction of 50 acres of Kokapet land organized by the ruling TRS government in July.
In its written complaint addressed to the CBI, the Congress alleged that the state exchequer suffered a financial loss of at least Rs 1,000 crore as the land parcels were auctioned to bidders close to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and his son KT Rama Rao. Who is the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Urban Administration.
“The Government of Telangana has changed the rules of e-auction and has helped a select group of real estate companies, which are close to the Chief Minister,” the letter said. Set differently to suit the bidding prospects of “companies close to the Kalvakuntla family”.
“Although located in the same area, the price variation between similar plots was more than 45-50%. Rajpushka bought plot number 2/P for Rs 60.2 crore per acre, while the next plot was bought by My Home Group for Rs 31.2 crore. It clearly shows how the scam happened.”
In July, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) had put up 8 plots (50 acres) of land called ‘Neopolis’ in Kokapet for sale. The entire auction was termed as a massive success as the state government earned a total revenue of Rs 2000.37 crore. Kokapet is one area where the state government wants to come up with a financial district consisting of major IT companies and startups, which are connected by high-end residential townships.
While the auction of land under the supervision of the state government falls under the traditional norms to promote transparency, the Telangana Congress has raised questions as to why the state government did not use its portal and instead decided to involve MSTC, which has been under the control of the controller. And the Auditor General of India and the CBI for ‘multiple lapses’.
The letter alleged, “The state government has allowed MSTC to collect 2 per cent of the total auction amount… Considering the fact that the Telangana government received Rs 2,500 crore, Rs 50 crore was given to the middlemen.” Received commission If the platform of the state government had been used, the commission amount would have been saved.
It further said, “MSTC did not disclose the names of other bidders as the entire auction was pre-planned and was not conducted in a transparent manner.”
