Drones will soon be used to deliver vaccines to health centers that are not easily accessible by road, as part of the Telangana government’s “Medicine from the Sky” initiative.
A trial project will begin on Saturday and until the project is finalized, the precious COVID vaccines will not be in the cargo.
The project includes experimental Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone flights for delivery of vaccines using the identified airspace of Vikarabad district.
It will be an effort that boxes weighing 2-3 kg will be transported from Vikarabad District Hospital to Primary Health Centers, initially within 500 meters of the line of sight, and later, up to 10 km, within half that. Hour.
The project has received the final regulatory approval from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) to operate in the state.
In a tweet, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia praised the project as “unprecedented” and said that the liberalized Drone Rules 2021 has already opened the door to innovation.
