Tension outside Bengal BJP headquarters, party takes out protest march over VAT on fuel

Kolkata’s Murlidhar Sen Lane area, where the Bengal BJP headquarters is located, was tense on Monday morning as the saffron party tried to take out a protest march. State tax on fuel after Center cutsWhile the police refused to allow it.

The police had informed the BJP leadership on Sunday that they would not allow any kind of protest due to the COVID situation. Around 9 am, police surrounded the BJP party office area with guard rails and posters that read, “Please stand by the government and maintain the COVID guidelines.”

The police prevented the leaders from going out or going into Murlidhar Sen Lane. Every lane leading to the BJP office was blocked.

The police also told the BJP leaders that they did not have permission to hold a sit-in.

BJP MP Jagannath Sarkar said, “They are stopping us to come out of the party office. They cannot do that.”

The scuffle broke out when the BJP leader climbed into a van parked nearby and started delivering his speech.

Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari protested outside the assembly complex and later joined the protest against Muralidhar Sen Lane.

Suvendu said, ‘We have not come here to break the barricades. Look what they have done. He has guarded everywhere. The more you kill BJP, the more BJP will grow.

BJP state president Sukanto Majumdar said, “It is good that they stopped us because they are afraid of us now. Why are they not deducting VAT? We will be conducting an awareness campaign at petrol pumps in West Bengal from 11 am to 12 noon tomorrow. Will drive

After a massive defeat in the state assembly elections, the BJP reclaimed the issue. Dilip Ghosh said, “His brothers were very worried that why are the prices so high? Now people are going to Assam to get oil at low price. Look, your Punjab friends have downvoted it. She was doing everything with Centre’s money.”

Meanwhile, Kunal Ghosh tweeted, “In Tripura, he stopped TMC showing COVID protocol. Why are they not taking the Kovid theory in West Bengal?”

After their speeches, the officer and others marched towards the barricades and a scuffle ensued. Police arrested him and released him on bail.

The BJP also plans to protest over electricity bills from next week.
