Kalyan: A 37-year-old man from Kalyan was duped of Rs 15 lakh by a woman he had met on a match-making website and even discussing marriage plans. A man working for a multinational company, on some video calls, interacted with the woman, who claimed that she lived abroad.
The man’s police complaint states that the woman called him saying that she had landed at the Delhi airport and was stopped by customs officials as she had many valuables, for which she said, she had to bribe the authorities . He requested the man to do an immediate cash transfer. After doing this he saw that his phone was switched off.
Realizing the fraud, he reached Khadakpada police station.
