Redmi and Realme have launched 5G tablets in India
Brands like Apple and Samsung have new competition in the segment with the likes of Xiaomi and Realme launching products.
Shipments of 5G tablets in India grew by 170 per cent year-on-year (YoY) with Lenovo leading the market with 29 per cent market share in the full year 2022, said a report on Tuesday.

Maneka Kumari, Analyst-Industry Intelligence Group (IIG), CMR said, “Driven by a strong consumer appetite to future-proof themselves, and with the rollout of 5G networks, 5G tablet shipments continued to strengthen through 2022 “
Lenovo, Apple (23 percent market share) and Samsung (22 percent) occupied the top three spots in the tablet market.
According to the report, shipments of tablets with displays above 10 inches account for 63 percent of the total shipments in the Indian market.
Premium tablets (Rs 20,000 and above) to grow by 24 per cent during 2022.
The Lenovo Tab M8 (HD) (Wi-Fi+4G) and Lenovo Tab M8 (HD) (WiFi) series had 21 percent and 12 percent market share, respectively.
Apple iPad shipments to record 17 percent YoY growth in 2022.
Apple iPad 9 (Wi-Fi) and Apple iPad Air 2022 (Wi-Fi) had 45 percent and 17 percent market share, respectively.
Samsung’s shipments registered a 29 per cent year-on-year growth due to the launch of the A8 series, S8 series and S6 series with aggressive features.
“As supply chain constraints decrease, and consumers spend more time together, tablets will continue to find support. Enterprise tablets will continue to be in demand, especially in healthcare, education and manufacturing,” Kumari said.
