Just days after it was revealed that actor Keanu Reeves has pulled out of Hulu’s adaptation of the series devil in the white cityFilmmaker Todd Field who was on the board as director and executive producer has exited the project. The search is on for a new director.
Commencing executive producers Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese, the series is a TV adaptation of writer Eric Larson’s best-seller of the same name. The project, which was originally developed as a film and TV series as DiCaprio optioned the property in 2010, placed a formal series order on Hulu in August of this year.
The novel’s story follows Daniel H. Burnham, a demanding but visionary architect who races to make his mark on history with the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, and Dr. H. H. Holmes, America’s first modern serial killer and notorious The Man Behind ‘Murder Castle’. Made in the shadow of the fair.
The series has Sam Shaw on board to write, perform and executive produce. DiCaprio and Jennifer Davison executive produce with Scorsese.
