Indian Railway Protection Force in Udupi has rescued two teenage girls from Kerala who allegedly decided to leave their family after their parents forced them to stop their education and get married.
Sources said 18-year-old Lulu Jasmine and 19-year-old Nafia Sherin from Malappuram were handed over to their parents on Saturday.
He said the Parappanagadi police in Kerala’s Malappuram district informed railway officials on December 17 that two girls were missing and were likely to be traveling from Tirur railway station on the Mangala Lakshadweep Express. On receiving the information, RPF Inspector AK Yadav along with other employees checked the train at Udupi railway station and found the girls in the sleeper coach.
The parents of both the girls who came to Udupi on Saturday completed the legal formalities by presenting evidence. Later, Mr. Yadav handed over the girls to their parents.
