Childhood days were one of the most special and joyous days. We often remember those carefree days and all the different types of candies, drinks and snacks we used to enjoy. The mere mention of these food items can instantly send us back down memory lane. For example, Campa Cola was a popular cola drink in the 70’s and 80’s. The soft drink brand was the drink of choice for countless Indians until it was replaced by other foreign ones like Pepsi and Coca-Cola. And now, Campa Cola is all set to return to supermarket shelves as it is being relaunched by Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance.

Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), the fast growing consumer goods arm of Reliance Retail, acquired 50 per cent stake in Gujarat-based carbonated soft drinks and juices maker Socio Hazuri Beverages Pvt Ltd in the month of January this year. Meanwhile, in September last year, he bought the Campa Drinks brand for Rs. 22 crore reportedly from the Pure Beverages group. Pure Drinks was originally the sole distributor of Coca-Cola from 1949 to 1970. He then launched his own brand, Campa Cola, and soon became the market leader in this segment. With two bottling plants in Mumbai and Delhi, Campa Cola became hugely successful and even launched the Campa Orange brand. However, in the 90s the brand faded and lost out to stiff foreign competition.
