Dr Naresh Gupta, Director of Maulana Azad Medical College, had warned on December 30, amid the fear of the new COVID variant Omicron, that the new variant is going to spread like fire once it enters the community. “Reportedly, 70 percent of Omicron patients are asymptomatic, and with the high transmission potential of the variant, it’s going to spread like fire once in the community because you won’t know if the next person is infected or not,” he said.
