‘The Poetic Cosmos of Sudeep Sen’: A feast for poetry lovers in Hyderabad

This literary event, filled with soulful poetry, music and dialogues, will also release ‘Converse: Contemporary English Poetry by Indians Edited Sudeep Sen’ on 20 September

The literary program ‘Converse: Contemporary English Poetry by Indians Edited by Sudip Sen’ will also be inaugurated in this literary program consisting of soulful poetry, music and dialogues.

Poetry programs are very few in Hyderabad. So when the poetry evening and the release of the book of collection of poems are announced, there is great joy. The event, ‘The Poetic Cosmos of Sudeep Sen’ promises an evening of laughter and tears and a ticket to a whole new world.

Sen’s stay in Hyderabad will begin on September 19, when he will interact with the audience at Osmania University (10.30 am) and Our Squared Space (6 pm). On 20 September at 4 pm in Lamakan, Sen will participate in a talk on the craft of poetry and writing with city educationist and poet Jhilum Chhatraraj. Sen will also read out his works in English and Bengali and will release the book by illustrator Uma Makala Conversation: Contemporary English Poetry by Indians edited by Sudip Sen,’ (Pippa Rann Books, UK). The conversation will begin with a dance video by Aditi Mangaldas on Sen’s poem.

Sharing his experience as the editor of a book of poems, Sen says, “It was profound and invigorating – over 15,000 pages of poetry were submitted.” Conversation…as stated in the jacket blurb, is an “official, intellectually rigorous, prudent representative – a comprehensive anthology – of the best English-language poetry by Indians in an updated, international map. In his career spanning 35 years, Sen has produced over 30 poems and translations, including one on climate change, Anthropocene (Pippa Rann Books), and So Udip Sen: A Critical Study. short film – Silence: A Tripitaka. prayer flag And crossing the lines of desire Along with this, songs based on his poems will also be shown in the program.

Sen’s literary association with Hyderabad stems from his meetings with poet Shiva K Kumar and literary personality Girish Karnad at conferences and as a judge for Hyderabad-based literary/poetry competitions. “Coming back here to celebrate the publication of these two new books completes a lovely literary arc,” he says.
