‘The public’s apology is needed’: Chris Rock has no plans to hold talks with Will Smith

A few days ago, Hollywood actor Will Smith took to social media to issue a public apology to comedian Chris Rock because of his violent controversy at the Oscars 2022. In the short clip, the Men in Black fame revealed that he tried to reach out to his comedian, however, Chris Rock politely declined his gesture of reconciliation.

Now, a source close to The Rock has revealed Entertainment Tonight the comedian has no intention of speaking directly to Will Smith. The insider reportedly suggested that Smith only wanted Chris Rock to publicly accept his apology. “He needs the public’s apology, not Chris’s”, said the source, how the actor resigned from the Academy out of his best interest. The insider claimed that Smith had previously completed his previous apology on time. It is important to note that the comedian has not officially stated his intention to reconcile with Smith.

In the latest apology video, Will Smith addresses why he didn’t apologize to The Rock during his acceptance speech. He said, “I was fogged out by that point. It’s all fuzzy. I’ve reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that he’s not ready to talk. And when he is, he’ll reach out.” So I’ll tell you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.

Furthermore, in the apology video, Smith stated that “there is no part of me that thinks that was the right way to behave in that moment.” He apologized to Tony Rock, the mother and brother of Chris Rock. He also apologized to his family and everyone present at the award ceremony for creating a massive uproar.

In a video posted online on Friday, Will said, “I deeply regret and am trying to express my regrets without being ashamed of myself.”
