TeaHere are situations where there is no choice but to leave your shoes outside. It can be a religious event or a group gathering. You come back and can’t see your slippers. When you try to remember your shoes and where you left them, the mind is in a haze. In Frenzy, you shuffle a lot of shoes in a pile. Some look alike, but they are not yours. Anger washes away from within. Who can be so dishonest as to steal your footwear? Or perhaps, so careless as not to recognize his own slippers!
Further course of action is not clear. Should you file an FIR? Or should you make the dash with a different pair? What if the real boss comes running and grabs you by the scruff of the neck? As soon as you think about the possibilities, everyone leaves the premises. It’s completely empty now, but a sad pair of slippers is still standing! The feet feel uncomfortable when you trample that pair! Sometimes, the blow is worse. The two pieces are of different slippers and sometimes, both belong to the same foot! Trying to piece this puzzle together, the mind goes blank.
The slippers are slippery, in the soles of which a mischievous spirit pervades! They wait for the opportune moment. You are happy with life and walk with a larger than life swagger. Suddenly, the leg is arrested. The buckle has slipped off the base! Swinging on one leg, you manage to set it right by threading the buckle back into the hole. From now on you are on the back foot. The problem reappears every 100 steps. It is like a tooth that has developed a cavity. Shooting pain is just around the corner!
Shoes are funny companions. They are pebble collectors! The collection goes unnoticed on the sides and heels, until it swells up, and you start to feel them! Reverse the shoe, and an entire family is torn apart. It rains shells and stones, nails and coins, a whole treasure!
Formal shoes play a special prank. Partially separated at the sole end. As the leg is raised, it opens its mouth, and when you put the foot on the ground, it closes. Call it Murphy’s Law, but when faced with this situation, a cobbler or shoe store doesn’t show up. How far can you walk like this, scraping and flapping your way?
When you lose all hope, something breaks inside. In a moment of shameless recklessness you both drop shoes. The crutches are thrown. You step outside and hit the ground barefoot. Complete freedom!
