Supertech’s illegal twin towers will be demolished at the earliest. The tentative date for the demolition of the Noida Twin Towers has been shifted to August 21. Earlier, the Supreme Court had fixed August 28 as the date for the demolition of the Twin Towers.
Noida Authority CEO Ritu Maheshwari told PTI, “The tentative date of demolition has now been shifted to August 21. Extension of deadline given by Hon. Supreme court Until August 28. It has been decided to create a buffer period so that the work can be completed by August 28 at any cost.
Maheshwari said, Edphis Engineering, a private agency engaged in the demolition work by Supertech, gave a presentation on Tuesday. Noida Authority regarding work progress and its preparation.
Further, the senior IAS officer revealed that the company said that they are on track for the job. It said that it has itself taken a buffer period of 12 days from the actual date of demolition (August 28). They will be ready 12 days in advance. Therefore, it has been decided to extend the date of demolition by one week to August 21.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Maheshwari to discuss the status of compliance of the court orders with the stated conditions and the problems arising out of the demolition. Apart from the Noida Authority, officials from the Police Department, Fire Department, Pollution Control Board, Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Edifice Engineering and Supertech Group also attended the meeting.
In order to ensure compliance with the orders of the Supreme Court, the date of August 21 was fixed for the demolition, taking a grace period of one week, according to the Noida Authority’s statement. Therefore, under any unavoidable circumstances, it is necessary to complete the demolition work by August 28, 2022.
The authority has asked the demolition agency to provide details of the areas falling within 50 meters of the twin towers. The details have been asked to be provided on both the RWAs.
Also, the statement directed Edifice Engineering to provide the pre-demolition structural audit of this 5 meter radius to CBRI by June 30. In the meantime, the company should also provide a plan for scientific disposal of construction and demolition waste. Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board.
Notably, the company has been asked to submit the vibration test report for the April 10 explosion test to the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) and CBRI by June 20.
