New Delhi: Home Minister of Pakistan Sheikh Rashid Ahmed called on forbidden Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) to stick to promises made with the government, warning that “things will get out of my hands” if the group fails to do so, Dawn reported.
The minister categorically stated that the government would block the group from entering Islamabad.
He urged the protesters to return, otherwise the state would have no choice but to “establish its authority”.
Rashid said that while the government does not want violence, the Prime Minister Imran Khan Will not allow the country to be “hostage”.
to address TLP demonstrator, he said: “Your loss is our loss.” The Home Minister said that he has spoken to the TLP leadership, including the head of the group Saad Hussein Rizwick, several times in recent days and will speak to him again on Friday and Saturday.
However, the talks will take place only after the (TLP) returns. Ahmed said TLP is committed to unblocking the roads and the group should fulfill its promise.
“Otherwise, the matter will be out of my hands,” he warned. He said that he was trying to persuade TLP to keep its promise, “but if you keep going (towards Islamabad), you will have to stop at some point”.
