Mr. Gosavi, who made headlines after his selfie with Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, went viral on social media after he was busted on October 2 by the city police on October 28 in a case of cheating. was arrested in A case was registered against him in 2018. The fresh FIR was registered late Saturday night at Wanowri police station.
Officials said the case was registered following a complaint from a resident of Mohammadwadi, who alleged that he was duped by Mr Gosavi on the pretext of getting him a job in Malaysia in 2018-19.
“The complainant has also alleged that Gosavi threatened the accused with a gun when he demanded his money back – ₹1.5 lakh,” a police officer said.
Another FIR was registered against Mr Gosavi at the city’s Lashkar police station on Saturday based on three other fraud charges.
On Thursday last week, a team of policemen from the Anti-Extortion Cell of Pune Crime Branch took into custody Gosavi, who was absconding from a lodge in Katraj area of the city.
The city police had kept him under close watch and were reportedly looking for him at a dozen possible locations. A Look-out Circular (LoC) was issued by the Pune Police on 13 October to prevent Mr. Gosavi from fleeing the country.
An FIR was first registered against him in Pune on May 29, 2018, by a resident of Kasba Peth area of the city, Chinmoy Deshmukh, in a cheating case at Farsakhana police station.
According to the FIR, Mr. Gosavi had posted an advertisement about hotel management jobs on social media platform and Mr. Deshmukh had contacted him. Mr Gosavi had reportedly promised the latter a job in Malaysia and asked him to transfer ₹3.09 lakh to his bank account between November 2017 and March 2018. Since neither the job nor his money was forthcoming, Mr. Deshmukh later lodged a police complaint. In which a case was registered against Mr. Gosavi under sections 419 and 420 of the IPC and relevant sections of the Information and Technology Act.
Most of the victims have said that they were threatened by the accused, who reportedly went incommunicado after a drug bust on October 2, where questions were raised about his controversial involvement in the NCB raid.
Mr. Gosavi has also been named as an accused in similar fraud cases in Mumbai and Thane.
